Menon sent to jail over attacks on Mirza Abbas

President of Bangladesh Workers Party and former civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon has been sent to jail in a case lodged for attacking Mirza Abbas, national standing committee member of BNP, during an election campaign in the city's Shegunbagicha area on 15 December 2018.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanaullah passed the order as the investigating officer of the case produced him before the court today after completing a three-day remand, and pleaded for locking him behind bars.
According to the case statement, on 15 December 2018, a gang of miscreants equipped with sticks, rods, sharp weapons and cocktails swooped on Mirza Abbas and some BNP leaders during the election campaign in front of Segunbagicha kitchen market, leaving them critically injured.
A case was filed in this regard later with Shahbagh Police Station.
Earlier on 22 August, Menon was detained from the city's Gulshan area in connection to a murder case.
