Mongla-bound ship strays into Ctg port waters, fined Tk10 lakh
The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has imposed a fine of Tk10 lakh on a Panama-flagged oil tanker, MT Dolphin 19, for entering the waters of the port without authorisation.
The ship, en route from Jeddah to Pakistan and India, was headed to Mongla Port.
The fine was imposed yesterday (3 February), as confirmed by CPA Secretary Omar Faruk.

According to sources at the Chattogram port harbor, MT Dolphin 19 was carrying oil from Jeddah Islamic Port and was supposed to head directly to Mongla Port. However, the ship mistakenly navigated through the waters of Chattogram port after passing through Pakistan's Qasim Port and India's Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
The CPA's advanced monitoring systems detected the vessel's unauthorised entry. A team from the harbor department promptly intercepted the ship, which was then fined.
CPA Secretary Omar Faruk explained, "No ship is allowed to enter the designated waters of Chattogram port without clearance. MT Dolphin 19 was identified as it entered the Kutubdia area on 3 February.
"Upon questioning, it was revealed that the ship had inadvertently strayed into the port's waters while on its way to Mongla. As a result, a fine of Tk10 lakh was levied."
