Monirampur UNO apologises for humiliation of elderly men
The upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) Sayema Hasan, who humiliated some elderly men was withdrawn from responsibility of the mobile court
Monirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ahsan Ullah Sharifi on Saturday went to the home of the elderly men who were humiliated by the assistant commissioner (Land) of the upazila and apologised to them on behalf of the administration.
The AC Land Sayema Hasan has been withdrawn from the responsibility of the mobile court, Ahsan Ullah told The Business Standard.
The incident came to light on Friday after a photo showing her humiliating two elderly people for not wearing masks, went viral on social media.

Following nationwide outrage over the matter, the government withdrew Sayema Hasan from Jashore and transferred her to the divisional commissioner's office in Khulna, the Ministry of Public Administration confirmed today.
Bangladesh went into a 10-day lockdown from March 26 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus as the country has witnessed five deaths from the deadly virus.
Policemen have also been seen beating people up with sticks and using other forms of physical punishment for not wearing masks and ignoring social distancing rules in different districts.
After seeing some photos and videos on social media where policemen were seen to beating-up and humiliating people on the streets, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary instructed policemen to be humble and to behave more professionally while handling the situation to maintain social distancing to curb Covid-19 spread in the country.
