Municipality elections cannot be said participatory: EC Mahbub
He stressed consensus over changing the electoral process, mentioning that lives are more valuable than any election.
After inspecting the polling stations of Savar municipality, Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder has said the election cannot be said participatory.
"No election is perfect if it does not become participatory," he said while talking to reporters at his office in Agargaon of the capital on Saturday.
Earlier on the day, the election commissioner had inspected the election situation in Savar.

Disclosing the outcomes of his visit, Mahbub Talukder said he had visited a total of 18 polling centers. Some 1,232 out of 7,311 votes were cast in the polling stations until 1pm. He found only three polling stations to have polling agents of the opposition party.
Aside from these, no posters representing the candidates of the opposition were seen in Savar Municipality area, he added.
"In such situation, this election cannot be called participatory. If any election is not participatory, it does not become perfect," mentioned the election commissioner.
Noting that violence centering the municipality polls is on the rise, EC Mahbub said violence and election cannot go hand in hand. Such violence cannot be prevented without changing the electoral process.
He stressed consensus over changing the electoral process, mentioning that lives are more valuable than any election.
