Lighter vessel with 1,100 tonnes coal capsizes in Bay, missing crew members rescued
A fishing boat carrying the rescued people has reached Patenga safely.
Nine crew members have been rescued this afternoon hours after they went missing when a lighter vessel capsized with 1,100 tonnes of coal in the Bay of Bengal due to rough weather.
A total of 12 crew members were in the vessel named MV Hera Parbat-8, when it capsized in Sandwip Channel near the Sangu gas field in the morning. Three of them were rescued immediately, but nine went missing.
A joint team of Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Bangladesh Air Force conducted the search operation in the area and rescued the missing crew members.
