Nusrat murder convicts to be sent to separate condemned cells
Security has been strengthened for the convicts in the Nusrat murder case staying in the different cells alongside other accused convicts
The Feni District Jail sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IG Prison) to transfer the 16 convicts sentenced to death in the Nusrat murder case to separate condemned cells.
"All the condemned cells in Feni District Jail are occupied by multiple convicts. For this reason, a letter has been sent to IG Prison for transferring the convicts to Comilla Jail, Kashimpur Central Jail, or to any other central jail with vacant individual condemned cells" Didarul Alam, Jailor of Feni Prison District, said.
Rafiqul Kader, Senior Jail Super of Feni District Jail, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
He added, "Security has been strengthened for the convicts in the Nusrat murder case staying in the different cells alongside other convicts."
Earlier on October 28, a Feni court Judge Mamunur Rashid of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal sentenced all the 16 accused in the Nusrat murder case to death. Each of them was fined Tk1 lakh.
On April 6, Sonagazi madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi was set on fire on the roof of the educational institution by people loyal to Siraj-ud-Doula for not withdrawing a sexual harassment case she had filed against him.
