Nusrat’s parents want to meet PM again
Nusrat's mother Shirin Akter also sought quick execution of the verdict
Expressing their satisfaction over the verdict in Nusrat murder case, her parents on Saturday expressed their desire to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina again to express their gratitude to her.
Nusrat's mother Shirin Akter also sought quick execution of the verdict and security of their lives while talking to reporters at her Sonagazi house on Saturday.
District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on Thursday sentenced 16 people to death in the much-talked-about murder case.
She said when they had met the Prime Minister, she expressed sorrow saying, "Tried to save the girl but failed, but justice will be ensured."
"We expect the verdict to be upheld by the High Court and be executed without delay," said Shirin Akter.
On April 15 last, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met Nusrat's parents—AKM Musa and Shirin Akhter—as well as her two brothers at her office.
The Prime Minister consoled the family members and expressed her deep sympathy for them.
"No culprit will be spared from legal action," said Sheikh Hasina assuring the family members of extending all sorts of support to them.
Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasah in Sonagazi upazila, was set afire on April 6 for refusing to withdraw a case filed against its principal Sirajud Doula for sexually harassing her.
After fighting for life for five days, the girl died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
