He prayed and hoped that the people of Indonesia withstand the calamity to return to normal life
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has expressed his deepest condolences over the deaths of scores of people in an earthquake that struck Sulawesi Island, Indonesia in the early hours of Friday.
In a message written to the Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno L P Marsudi, Momen conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the Indonesian government, the brotherly people of Indonesia, and particularly to the members of the bereaved families at the tragic loss of precious human lives.
The foreign minister prayed and hoped that the resilient and enterprising people of the country withstand the calamity and successfully rebuild their homes and infrastructure to return to normal life.
He reiterated the Government of Bangladesh's commitment to work with the international community on disaster risk reduction and global climate change adaptation and mitigation issues.
Dr Momen suggested that because both countries are disaster-prone, officials and rescue workers from Bangladesh and Indonesia can take part in jointly-conducted earthquake drills and simulation exercises.
