Police release detained NU students
The 20 National University students, who were detained from a protest in Shahbagh in the morning, have been released from Shahbagh Police Station this evening.
Md Mamun-or Rashid, officer in-charge of the police station, said they released the students after no harmful or objectionable elements were gleaned from them during interrogation, reports Prothom Alo.
Students of different government colleges took position in capital's Shahbagh intersection and waged a movement there on Thursday morning, protesting against the suspension of examinations.
At one stage, police dispersed them from the busy road and detained some students.
Later, the students suspended their protest programme and gave a 3-day ultimatum to the authorities to meet their demands, including release of the detained students.
