BNP dissolves all committees in 15 thanas, 43 wards in Chattogram city
The Chattogram city unit of the BNP has announced the dissolution of all its organisational committees under 15 thanas and 43 wards.
Ershad Ullah, convener of Chattogram city BNP made the announcement at a press conference in the city today (3 December).
"In this critical time for the country, we aim to organise and mobilise the BNP's grassroots activists. Therefore, the committees of the 15 thanas and 43 wards, whose tenures have expired, have been dissolved.
"New committees comprising dedicated and tested leaders will be formed soon to lead the ongoing movement," he said.
Ershad also condemned and protested against the recent attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in India and the desecration of the national flag, calling the incidents unacceptable.
This restructuring effort follows the formation of a convening committee on 7 July, which appointed Ershad Ullah as the convener and Nazimur Rahman as the member secretary.
On 4 November, a 53-member full-fledged convening committee for the Chattogram city BNP was announced to further the party's organisational goals.
According to BNP sources, the previous full-fledged committee of the Chattogram city BNP, comprising 275 members, was announced on 10 July 2017. The then-president, Shahadat Hossain, and general secretary, Abul Hashem Bakkar, formed committees for 14 thanas and 38 wards under the city BNP. However, the committee failed to create full-fledged units for Khulshi Thana and five key wards: Jamal Khan Ward (21), Uttar Pathantuli Ward (23), Uttar Agrabad Ward (24), Purba Madarbari Ward (30), and Patharghata Ward (34). These areas continued to operate with interim convening committees.
