Nur asks Sarjis to clarify stance regarding attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Faruq
The party's president Nurul Haque Nur alleged that the recent attack was a pre-planned event
Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has asked Sarjis Alam, a key organiser of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, to clarify his position regarding the attack on Faruq Hasan.
Speaking at a protest rally at Central Shaheed Minar today (5 January), Nur accused Sarjis of requesting journalists to cover news of the "attackers".
While acknowledging that the government may not be directly responsible, Nur highlighted the presence of photographs depicting the attackers alongside Sarjis.
"Sarjis must clarify his position immediately. Rumours of his involvement are circulating, and our patience has completely eroded. We demand action against the attackers within 24 hours. If justice is not served, the people will not tolerate it," he said.
He went on to say, "I am prepared to face any consequences that may arise from our demand for justice."
Nur also alleged that the attack was a pre-planned event.

"While the rally organisers [National Revolutionary Council] initially blamed Chhatra Dal, it was later revealed that the injured individuals from the July uprising were responsible for the attack," he said.
Nur criticised the emergence of new organisations claiming to be revolutionary, stating that some individuals have exploited the concept of revolution for personal gain since the July uprising.
Speaking at the, the party's general secretary Rashed Khan questioned the effectiveness of the reforms if attacks continue as they did under the Awami League.
He condemned the Shahbagh police station OC for refusing to take action, stating that they do not want such unresponsive policing.
He also criticised the home affairs adviser for failing to take any action and demanded his resignation if the attackers are not caught within 24 hours.
Following the rally, a protest march of Gono Odhikar Parishad proceeded from Central Shaheed Minar towards Shahbagh Police Station.
Gono Odhikar Parishad senior vice-president Faruq Hasan was attacked allegedly by activists of National Revolutionary Council while addressing a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar yesterday (4 January).
The attack was carried out at about 4:00pm after Faruq delivered his speech criticising the interim government.
However, the National Revolutionary Council denied its involvement in the attack and demanded the arrest of the attackers.
