Hartal called by Quader Mirza postponed in Companiganj

Abdul Quader Mirza, younger brother of Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, has postponed the ongoing hartal in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali.

Postponing the programme Quader Mirza said, they have temporarily suspended their sit in protest in front of Companiganj police station as the Officer in charge (OC) and their staff couldn't go out for a long time as well as hartal.

At that time Quader Mirza, newly elected mayor of Noakhali's Basurhat municipality said, we hope that the authority will take necessary steps for the withdrawal of district deputy commissioner, superintendent of police (SP) and officers in charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station.

Blamed Noakhali MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Feni MP Nizam Uddin Hajari and Daganbhuiyan Upazila Chairman Didarul Kabir for attacking his car in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni on 11 February, he said still nobody was held though he already filed a general dairy regarding this incident.

Quader Mirza also demanded to arrest of Fakhrul islam Sabuj, a local leader Corkakra union Awami League, who insulted his family delivering defamation information.

Earlier, leaders and workers of Awami League's Companiganj upazila unit in Noakhali observed hartal from morning. 

On Tuesday noon, Fakhrul islam Sabuz along with some local AL leaders and activists brought out a protest rally against Quader Mirza at the upazilla, Police detained Fakhrul but released him after some time.

After spreading the news of Fakrul's release, the leaders and activists of the upazila Awami League and its affiliates held a protest, sit in programme in front of Companiganj police station under the leadership of the Bashurhat mayor.

Later, Mirza continued the sit-in protest throughout the night with thousands of party leaders and activists and chanted slogans.
