Islami Andolon protests Modi’s visit and police action
Leaders and activists of Islami Andolan Bangladesh have started a rally in Baitul Mukarram area protesting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit and police action on protesters.
Over three thousand activists of the Islamist party thronged at the north gate of the national mosque soon after Hefazat-e-Islam activists moved from there after staging a protest on the same demands.
They have blocked the road from DainikBangla intersection to Paltan.

Earlier in the day, more than three thousand activists of Hefazat staged a rally there protesting Friday's police action that claimed five lives.
Hefazat Ameer Junaid Babunagari also vowed to avenge the deaths of its activists. He said the incident of police firing on a peaceful movement can never be accepted.
Besides, Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque there said that the government has stained the Independence Day by killing activists of the party on Friday when they were protesting Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit.
Meanwhile, police have detained five leaders and activists of Jubo Adhikar Parishad from Press Club area today when they tried to stage a protest over Modi's visit.
Earlier on Friday, leaders and activists of Hefazat clashed with police and ruling Awami League men in Dhaka, Chattogram and Brahmanbaria, when they were barred from protesting Modi's visit. At least five people were killed and dozens injured during the clashes.
Narendra Modi is now in Bangladesh on a two-day state visit to join the ongoing celebration of "Mujib Borsho", the centenary of birth of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that coincides with the country's 50th anniversary of independence.
