Khelafat Majlis calls for removal of controversial figures from advisory council

The Khelafat Majlis has urged the interim government to remove controversial figures from the advisory council, urging caution when appointing individuals to key positions and recommending consultations with stakeholders of the July-August revolution. 

At a meeting yesterday (13 November), the party's central executive committee emphasised the importance of appointing individuals who uphold the religious values of the majority and are qualified for the positions, according to a statement issued today (14 November).

They also demanded the electoral roadmap be announced and all reform processes be completed as quickly as possible.

The party leaders stated the government should not let the unity between the students and the people be compromised. They also expressed concern about ongoing conspiracies against the student-led uprising.

Condemning the ongoing anti-Bangladesh propaganda in Indian media, they accused certain Indian media outlets of spreading false and propagandistic information, particularly regarding minority issues, with the aim of disrupting communal harmony in Bangladesh. 

The party also accused India of inciting territorial ambitions against Bangladesh. 

They urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to seek an explanation from the Indian government and take effective measures to stop such activities.

The statement further highlighted concerns about recent appointments to government positions, stating that some appointees do not align with the spirit of the July-August revolution. 

The party expressed scepticism about the ability of those who benefited from the previous authoritarian regime to uphold the revolutionary spirit.

The Khelafat Majlis emphasised that the government was formed with the overwhelming support of the students and the people to protect the revolutionary spirit and dismantle the authoritarian system and injustice.

They warned that any compromise on these principles would be unacceptable.
