Protestors demand female migrant workers’ security
The protest began from Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday morning followed by speeches of several Women rights workers and activists.
A platform of concerned citizens staged a demonstration to press home their 13-point demand following several allegations of torture on Bangladeshi women migrant workers in Saudi Arabia.
The protest began from Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday morning followed by speeches of several Women rights workers and activists.
Their demands include- government's direct help in sending women workers abroad, ensuring the protection of the interests of the migrant workers, effective monitoring and supervision along with the responsibility of the officers and employees of Bangladesh Embassy & Consulate operating in the Middle East.
They also demanded that immediate rescue, accommodation, food and legal assistance should be provided through Bangladeshi embassies and consulates if migrant workers suffer any adverse situation.
