RAB destroys poppy fields in Bandarban

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 conducted a drive in Keokradong area of Bandarban's Ruma upazila and destroyed four poppy fields there on Friday morning.

Mashiur Rahman of RAB-7, who led the operation, said, "Acting on a tip-off, we led a drive in the deep forest near Keokradong where we found the poppy fields. The poppies were cultivated in order to be smuggled abroad."

"We are investigating who owns these fields," he said, adding that legal action will be taken against them.
