Road accident leaves freedom fighter dead
A freedom fighter died in the capital's Mirpur area after being hit by a city corporation garbage truck.
The incident took place in front of Muktijoddha Super Market at around 2pm on Tuesday.
The deceased is Abdul Khalek Houlader, 67, an inhabitant of Patuakhali.

Officer-in-Charge of Shah Ali Police Station Mohammad Salauddin Mia said Abdul, a betel leaf trader in Mirpur 1 area, was hit hard by a city corporation garbage truck while crossing the road in front of the Muktijoddha Super Market.
Local people took him to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in a critical condition. Later, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
The body was kept in the morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
"We have detained the truck and arrested the driver", he said.
