Rohingya man held with 8 lakh yaba tablets
This is the record haul of yaba consignment this year
A Rohingya man was detained with eight lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Inani beach area in Cox's Bazar early today.
The detainee, MD Jamal Hossain, 22, is a resident of Unchiprang Rohingya camp in Teknaf, confirmed Assistant Director (media wing) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) Abdullah Muhammad Sheikh Sadi.
"On a tip-off that a big consignment of yaba pills was coming from Myanmar on fishing trawlers via sea route, RAB conducted a drive at 12am in the beach area and detained Jamal with the yaba tablets," Abdullah added.
"This is the record haul of yaba consignment this year. Jamal has been handed over to Ukhiya police station after filing a case, Sheikh Sadi added.
