Sramik Dal leader stabbed to death in Sitakunda

A local leader of the Sramik Dal, the workers' wing of BNP, was stabbed to death in Chattogram's Sitakunda by unidentified assailants last night (2 January).
The incident occurred at around 8pm in the Jungle Salimpur area of the upazila, confirmed Sitakunda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mojibur Rahman.
The victim was identified as Mir Md Arman Hossain, 48, a resident of the area and son of late Motaher Hossain, police said.
Citing locals, police said, Arman was chatting at a tea stall near his house in the evening. At one point, he got a call and talked over the phone before walking a short distance to meet someone.
A few minutes later, he started to scream for help. Witnesses reported several attackers were seen fleeing the spot after stabbing Arman.
Locals rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police added.
OC Mojibur said legal actions were being taken, and efforts were underway to identify and catch the perpetrators.
Condemning the murder, member of BNP's Chattogram north district unit Zahurul Alam Zahur said, "We demand a thorough investigation to ensure justice for this heinous act."
