Stamford students stage human chain to protest against arrest of Sifat and Shipra

Stamford University students formed human chain today in demand of releasing their fellow classmates who were arrested during the murder of retired Army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in police firing.
The incident took place today in front of the Dhaka Press Club at 11 am.
The arrestees are Stamford University's freelance photographer Sahedul Islam Sifat and filmmaker Shipra Rani Debnath.
The students demanded immediate release of their classmates by withdrawing unlawful charges against them. They also demanded to ensure justice of the murder of Major Sinha by initiating a proper investigation.
Major (retd) Sinha had been in Cox's Bazar with the students for making a documentary film.
Earlier on Friday night, Sinha was killed in police firing in Cox's Bazar Marine Drive.
Arrest warrants have been issued against nine policemen over the incident.
