Supreme Court pauses session in tribute to Abdul Matin Khasru
Awami League presidium member and former law minister Abdul Matin Khasru died at a hospital in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The Supreme Court has suspended sessions today as a tribute to Abdul Matin Khasru, president of the Supreme Court Bar, who died on Wednesday after suffering from Covid-19.
Judicial proceedings are not taking place in both the divisions of the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain announced the decision virtually on Thursday joining the courtroom No 1 of the Appellate Division, reports Prothom Alo.

At the outset, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said, "I am sorry to announce that you may have known that Abdul Matin Khasru, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and a senior lawyer, passed away at 5.15 pm yesterday. Since he is the current president, I respectfully request to close the court today."
Then the Chief Justice said, "The court proceedings will remain suspended today to pay homage to him."
Later, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Ruhul Quddus, Secretary of the Supreme
Court Bar Association, expressed their gratitude on behalf of the association.
Awami League presidium member and former law minister Abdul Matin Khasru died at a hospital in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
He was 71 years old at the time of his death. The former minister had been undergoing treatment at the Combined Military
Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka since16 March. He was on life support since last Tuesday.
Abdul Matin Khasru is the current president of the Supreme Court Bar Association. He was elected MP of Awami League from Cumilla-5 constituency. When the Awami League came to power in 1996, he became the law minister.
Abdul Matin Khasru was born in 1950 in Cumilla. He actively participated in the Liberation War of 1971.
