Suspected drug dealer killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’
The BGB also recovered 1.20 lakh pieces of yaba pills, one locally-made gun, two rounds of fresh cartridges and a sharp knife from the scene
A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gun battle with members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Teknaf early today.
The deceased, Imam Hossain, son of Abdus Salam, was a resident of Jadimura area of Hnila union.
The gunfight took place at Kewra Bagan area of the union.

"The Dumdamiya BOP patrol team of the BGB noticed a person walking around Kewra Bagan area suspiciously," said Teknaf-2 BGB Captain Lt Colonel Faisal Hassan Khan.
He said, "After a while, the man walked to a boat that arrived from Myanmar in Kewra Bagan area. Sensing the presence of the BGB, the people on the boat opened fire on them, forcing the BGB to retaliate."
He said the BGB recovered the bullet-hit body of Imam after the gunfight and took him to Teknaf Hospital. The doctors then sent him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead.
Two BGB members were also injured during the gunfight, Faisal added.
The BGB also recovered 1.20 lakh pieces of yaba pills, one locally-made gun, two rounds of fresh cartridges and a sharp knife from the scene.
Faisal said legal action has been taken in connection with the incident.
