A Gazipur court granted a three-day remand for Muaz Bin Noor, the spokesperson of Tabligh Jamaat's Maulana Saad Kandhalvi faction, in connection with the deaths of three during a clash over control of the Ijtema grounds in Tongi on 18 December.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Gazipur Alamgir Al Mamun granted the remand today (22 December) after a hearing earlier in the day.
Law enforcement authorities had sought a seven-day remand during the proceedings.
Muaz Bin Noor, 40, a resident of Sector 7 in Uttara, Dhaka, is the son of Noor Mohammad.
He is identified as the fifth accused in a murder case filed by the Zubayer faction of Tabligh Jamaat following the fatal clashes.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Noor in a pre-dawn raid on Friday (20 December) and presented him before the court on the same day, when the date for the remand hearing was set.
