Taposh directs construction of STS in every DSCC ward

Dhaka south city mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh directed the officials to construct Secondary Transfer Station (STS) in every ward of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) including the newly absorbed 18 wards.
The mayor gave the direction in an official meeting with the waste management officials of the DSCC on Wednesday, said the press release.
According to the source, there are currently 25 STSs in 25 wards of DSCC. So, more than 50 wards of DSCC have been managing the waste without any STS.
Hence, DSCC has been facing huge challenges in manage the wastes generated by the city dwellers.
During the meeting, Taposh also directed the officials to undertake more awareness programs for the citizens not to throw the wastes here and there and keep the city clean.
He also instructed the officials concerned of waste management to chalk out a plan for the next thirty years.

DSCC CEO Shah Md Imdadul Haque, Chief Waste Management Officer (CWMO) Commodore Md Badrul Amin, Additional CWMO Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Siddique and Secretary Akhramujjaman were present among other senior officials of DSCC.
