Theft, robbery, violence against women increases in Cumilla in December
The law and order situation in Cumilla has deteriorated in December with increasing incidents of theft, robbery and violence against women.
In addition, drug smuggling and abuse, as well as the activities of teenage gangs have increased in the district, according to data released at a meeting of the District Law and Order Committee held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner today (12 January).
It was informed at the meeting that nine incidents of robbery occurred in Cumilla in December, whereas six such incidents occurred in November.
Also, there were 25 incidents of violence against women and children in December, while 18 such incidents occurred in November.
In addition, there were 399 serious crimes reported in December, compared to 392 in November.
Speaking at the meeting, District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan said, "The law and order situation in Cumilla is normal, except for a few isolated incidents."
"The criminal activities of teenage gangs will be stopped within the next week," he added.
