Three smugglers detained at Dhaka airport
Mobile phones recovered from their baggage worth Tk3.5 crore
Three people were detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday for smuggling into 2,600 pieces mobile phone sets.
The detainees are Md Sujon, 49, Shahriar Hossain Prince, 33, Md Rofiqul Islam, 27.
In primary interrogation, they confessed that the mobile phones were brought to sell in Bangladesh and India.
Alamgir H Shimul, additional superintendent of Airport Armed Police Battalion, told The Business Standard that the mobile phones recovered from their baggage are worth Tk3.5 crore.
“They were detained from the canopy area of the airport after they arrived in Dhaka from China by a US-Bangla airlines flight,” he added.
APBn is preparing a case to be filed against them.
