Three killed in collision between bus and car in Savar
Besides, two others - Shahabuddin and Abdul Jalil- were injured in the accident
At least three people were killed in a collision between a bus and a car in the Boliapur area of Savar, Dhaka today (2 December).
The deceased are Md Ibrahim, a former Union Parishad member; Mojibur Rahman, owner and driver of the private car, and Nazimuddin, whose identity could not be confirmed immediately, according to police and locals.
Besides, two others - Shahabuddin and Abdul Jalil- were injured in the accident.
They have been admitted to the Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar and Ibne Sina Hospital in Dhaka, said Savar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sawgatul Alam.
The incident occurred in front of the SN LNG station at Boliapur in Savar around 2:00pm.
According to locals and the police, the car was going in the opposite direction through the Dhaka-bound Lane of the Dhaka-Aricha highway after leaving the LNG station when it collided head-on with a long-distance passenger bus of Sealine Paribahan.
In the accident, three out of five people in the car died on the spot. Two were seriously injured.
Sawgatul told The Business Standard that the bus has been seized.
"However, the bus driver and his assistant have fled. We are trying to catch them," said the officer.
