Army member loses wife, sustains injury in Barishal road accident

An army member's wife was killed, and he and his son sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Barishal last night (17 January), according to a statement from the Bangladesh Army released today (18 January).
The victim was identified as Md Bulbul Ahmed, a lance corporal stationed at Barishal Cantonment, the statement said.
The accident occurred when a bus from Sakura Paribahan rammed into the motorcycle Bulbul and his family were riding in front of the cantonment's MP Gate.

Bulbul and his son were airlifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for better treatment via an army aviation helicopter, the statement added.
Although the bus involved in the accident was seized, the driver managed to escape. Legal action is underway regarding the incident, the statement concluded.
