Police have submitted charge sheet implicating two bus drivers in a case filed over the death of Rajib Hossain, a student of Government Titumir College.
They accused are - BRTC bus driver Waheed and Sajan Paribahan driver Md Khorshed.
Sub-Inspector Idris Ali of Shahbagh police station submitted the charge sheet before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Elias Mia's court on Sunday.
Rajib Hossain lost both of his parents some 10 years ago. As the eldest brother, Rajib was responsible for taking care of his two younger brothers. So, he started working at a computer shop in Dholaipar area besides studying at Government Titumir College.
Rajib, in his early 20s, was still looking for a better job. Getting a better job requires better expertise. So, he enrolled in BASIS Institute of Technology and Management at Karwan Bazar to participate in a three-month training programme on graphic designing.
An accident happened when Rajib was going to attend his class at 01:30pm on April 3, 2018. He lost his right arm while getting down from a bus of Sajan Paribahan as it hit a BRTC double-decker at the Saarc Fountain roundabout.
Immediately after the accident, Rajib was rushed to nearby Samorita Hospital on Panthapath. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment.
On April 5, while Rajib was in coma, the then health minister Mohammad Nasim visited him at the DMCH. He promised Rajib's family that the government will bear the full cost of his treatment and upon recovering he will get a government job on humanitarian grounds.
