‘DNCC to run stringent campaign for holding tax collection from September’
There will be no hanging wire in Dhaka North from October 1
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will conduct a combing campaign to collect holding tax from September 1 this year, said Mayor Atiqul Islam at a programme on Wednesday.
The DNCC programme was arranged in the Uttara Community Centre to thank the cleaners of DNCC for the proper removal of sacrificial animal waste.
During his speech, the mayor said, "We will conduct this campaign to increase the scope of holding tax. Many buildings may have a structure of nine-floors but they are paying holding tax for up to two-floors."
He continued, "The amount of holding tax will not increase, but the scope of holding tax will be increased. Besides, there will be no hanging wire in Dhaka North from October 1. A special campaign will be launched for this," he added.
Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Md Tajul Islam and Mayor Md Atiqul Islam formally thanked the cleaners for their contribution.
Atiqul mentioned that four 15-storey buildings were under construction in the Gabtoli area for the cleaners of the city. The constructions will be completed in 2021 where 484 families can be accommodated.
