Your demands will be met, return to work: Home affairs adviser calls on cops
Your demands will be met, said home affairs ministry Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain while urging them to return to work.
He made the statement after visiting Central Police Hospital in the capital's Kazipara area today (11 August).
Regarding when police officials will return to work, he said, "That will depend on the people. If you cooperate police will return soon."
"We as a society cannot function without police. Army and other armed forces are trying to carry out their work but it is not their duty. They are also being attacked at times, like the incident in Gopalganj," he added.
Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain said, "Politics is no one's personal property… they [Awami league] want to stay in power after killing thousands, which is very sad.
"They have used the police as their 'lathial' force. They have given them weapons they are not supposed to have such as 7.62mm bullets. We [army] have advanced weapons too but for killing enemies at the border not inside the country."
He also warned, it will be very difficult to do politics in the country because you cannot control police according to your needs anymore. The police force must be under the police commission, he added.
The police are for the people, said the home ministry adviser.
