ICMAB Best Corporate Award: Summit Power leads in power generation
The awards ceremony was held at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on 25 February
The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) Best Corporate Award 2019 has recognised Summit Power Limited (SPL) as the leader in the power generation category.
This is the eighth time in a row that the company has received this recognition from ICMAB, since 2012, for its excellence in corporate governance.
The awards ceremony was held at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on 25 February, said a press release.
Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission; Dr Md Jafar Uddin, secretary to the Ministry of Commerce; and AKM Delwer Hussain FCMA, president of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), attended the programme as special guests.
Swapon Kumar Pal FCA, financial controller and company secretary of Summit Power, was also present on the occasion.
The award was introduced in 2007 to recognise the contributions of corporate entities in Bangladesh and encourage increased competitiveness among enterprises for better corporate governance.
Summit Power Limited is the leading independent power producer of the country and a publicly listed AAA rated company, read the news release.
It is part of Summit Group that has a combined 1,941 MW installed capacity and supplies electricity to the national power grid.
