PHP Float Glass Industries Limited has started producing modern reflective glass for the first time in the country.
PHP is planning to export the glass—produced using 'sputtering coating' technology— after meeting domestic demand.
According to workers at PHP Float Glass, there is a high demand for reflective glass in the country.

This reflective glass is used to protect homes from the intensity of the sun, yet letting in enough light. It also reduces heat and air conditioning costs, they said.
"Float glass was first produced in the country in 2005, with PHP Float Glass Industries Limited as its proud partner. Prior to that, there was no way to get good quality glass [in the country] without depending on imports" said Mohammad Amir Hossain, managing director, PHP Group.
"At present, PHP produces 150 to 300 metric tons of float glass a day."
"Our country is benefitting from domestic production instead of importing glass worth more than Tk50 crore every month."
According to PHP sources, the company is producing reflective glass in 10 different colours, including dark blue, ocean blue, dark green, dark gray, golden, purple, pink, bronze, and silver.
Also, PHP is planning to introduce a new type of coated glass named 'Privacy Glass' in the near future.
