Root Group of companies has announced the launch of Swiss technology-based health protective gear Corona Killer.
The unveiling of the new technology, for the textile sector of Bangladesh, was announced at an online event on July 3.
This initiative is likely to make Bangladesh's textile and apparel industry stand out in the world given the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, said the speakers at the programme.
Apart from personal use, this health protective gear can be used in hospitals too, they said while calling for further research on the use of this method.
Buyers from a few foreign companies also joined the event.
"Combining advanced silver and vesicle technology, Corona Killer has been proven to deactivate most viruses, including Covid-19, in the shortest possible time," read a press release.
"Technology-treated textiles can kill bacteria and destroy common harmful viruses, such as influenza and Covid-19, and effectively protect against contamination and the transmission of pathogens," it added.
Its manufacturer says Corona Killer is proven to reduce over 99.99 percent of viruses in two minutes.
"Enriched with antimicrobial textile treatment, Corona Killer will be effective even after 20 washes," continued the press release.
It added, "Corona-Killer-treated textiles and apparel can destroy harmful pathogens, viruses and bacteria when they come into contact with them."
It can be applied to: personal protective equipment (PPE), face masks, isolation gowns, shoe covers, denim, non-denim, pants, shirts, ladies wear, t-shirts, polo shirts, home textiles, hospital uniforms, and air filters.
