Bangladesh’s Covid-19 cases cross 4-lakh mark
The number of fatalities has reached 5,818 with 15 more deaths

Bangladesh's Covid-19 count has crossed 4 lakh mark today with 1,436 fresh cases, taking the country's total caseload to 400,251.
The number of fatalities from Covid-19 infection has reached 5,818 now with 15 more deaths in the last 24 hours till Monday 8am, according to a DGHS press release.
Among the deceased, nine were men and six were women. 14 of them died in different hospitals across the country while one at home, added the press release.
10 of them hailed from Dhaka, three from Chattogram and one from Barishal division.
In the last 24 hours, 13,758 samples were tested in 111 labs across the country. With this, 22,71,347 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The latest day's infection rate was 10.44% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 17.62%. The death rate stands at 1.45%.
In the past 24 hours, 1,493 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 316,600 with a 79.10% recovery rate.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,480 of the total deceased were men, and 1,338 were women.
642 people have been placed in quarantine in the last 24 hours. Now, 39,610 people are in quarantine across the country, reads the press release.
108 Covid-19 suspected patients were taken into isolation and 167 left in last 24 hours. Now, 12,045 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
The world has entered in the tenth month of the pandemic. At the time of writing, the virus has infected more than 43,372,617 people and close to 1,159,425 people died.
