Bankers’ special incentive goes
The Bangladesh Bank cancelled from May 29 the special incentive of bankers for their duties amid the Covid-19 pandemic
The Bangladesh Bank has cancelled a special incentive for bankers for their duties at office premises during general holidays. The new order will take effect on May 29.
However, officials and employees of banks will get conveyance allowance for their duties with physical presence during general holidays from May 29, the central bank said in a circular on Sunday.
The Bangladesh Bank has also been taking various measures, including the withdrawal of previous instructions on carrying out banking activities on a limited scale, to restart the banking activities in full swing, it said.
On April 13, the central bank announced that the officers and employees, who are present at their workplaces and carrying out their duties during the holidays, will be eligible for the special incentive.
They will be entitled to the incentive allowance, which is equal to their basic salaries, for working for a minimum of 10 days during the holidays, according to the notice.
The days will be counted from the first day of the general holidays, it added.
On March 26, the government first enforced a 10-day shutdown till April 14, which was later extended in phases till May 30, in order to contain the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus.
