CU gets permission to test coronavirus
The university authorities expect that 300 to 400 samples will be tested daily once the lab is opened
Chittagong University (CU) was permitted on Wednesday to test coronavirus samples in its laboratory under the Faculty of Biology.
In this regard, the university authorities on Thursday received a letter signed by Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, the acting director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Necessary kits and logistics for conducting the testing will be provided by the DGHS, reads the letter.
While contacted, CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shireen Akter said, "We received permission to conduct Covid-19 testing. The testing is expected to be launched in the lab soon."
A Bio-safety Level-2 quality lab has been prepared for testing purposes. Authorities expect that 300 to 400 samples will be tested daily once the lab is opened.
