CU VC, 4 family members test Covid-19 positive
Their Covid-19 test results came positive on Saturday evening
Professor Dr Shireen Akter, vice-chancellor of Chittagong University, and four of her family members have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Their Covid-19 test results came positive on Saturday evening. Besides, two caretakers of her residence also found positive for the virus.
S M Monirul Hasan, acting registrar of the university, has confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"Their health condition is currently stable and they are taking treatment from home," he said, adding that they will be able to get treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) if needed.
Dr Shireen Akter had taken multiple relief distribution initiatives to help the staffs of the University since the beginning of the pandemic.
Chittagong University was placed under a 14-day long lockdown from July 4 after 15 university staffs tested positive with the virus. Today marked the 8th day since the lockdown.
The lockdown will be extended for 7 more days.
