IGP inaugurates Covid-19 ward at AMCGH

The Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed on Monday inaugurated the coronavirus ward for cancer patients at Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital (AMCGH).
He attended the event via video conferencing from his office at the Bangladesh police headquarters, said a press release issued by Bangladesh Police.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission president presided over the programme.
Dr Benazir said "Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital has played a commendable role in providing treatment to cancer patients."
"The initiative to set up a separate unit for the treatment of cancer patients with Covid-19 will make a significant contribution to the treatment of cancer patients in the country and will provide them with new hope to live," added he added.
The IGP said that currently almost 14,000 frontline police officials have been affected by the virus and 63 of them have lost their lives.
Dr Benazir also said that the team of Chinese medical experts and team of experts from the government have described the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital as the best in medical protocol and management.
"Dhaka Ahsania Mission Cancer and General hospital can collaborate with the Central Police Hospital in providing proper treatment to patients in the time of the pandemic," he added.
He also said "The world has seen a lot of pandemics, but every time the people have won against it. Under the leadership of the prime minister, we will also win against it, In Sha Allah!"
The IGP urged the people to maintain proper health and safety protocols until the coronavirus vaccine arrives in the country.
Lastly, he expressed his gratitude towards the hospital authorities, doctors, nurses and health workers for inviting him as the chief guest of the programme.
