Rice embezzlement: ACC sues UP chairman, secretary in Narail
The two accused have allegedly embezzled 280 kilograms of government rice allocated for poor amidst the coronavirus outbreak
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed a case against the chairman and secretary of a union parishad in Narail for allegedly embezzling government rice meant for distribution among the poor under the government's social safety net programme.
ACC Spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the news to The Business Standard.
He said the anti graft body sued Md Alauddin Chowdhury and Sheikh Md Mohidul Islam, respectively the chairman and secretary of Joynagar union parishad in Noragati upazila.
Assistant Director of ACC Jashore district office Mahfuz Iqbal filed the case on Wednesday.
According to the case, the two accused embezzled 280 kilograms of government rice allocated for the poor amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
