Covid-19 sample collection booth for doctors launched in Chattorgram
Salma Adil Foundation and Bangladesh Medical Association jointly launched the sample collection camp
The Salma Adil Foundation and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Chattogram have jointly launched a sample collection camp for doctors suffering with Covid-19 symptoms.
The programme was inaugurated at the Shah Alam Biruttam Auditorium of the Chattogram Medical College & Hospital, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
Salma Adil, founding director of the foundation, said, "This is an initiative to make things easier for the doctors with Covid-19 symptoms, to provide their samples. During this epidemic, as a Chittagonian, I felt I must stand by the local Doctors."
The Salma Adil Foundation (SAF) has been working wholeheartedly for general people belonging from different walks of life since the chaos wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic first hit Bangladesh, it reads.
"To date, from sending essential kitchen market groceries to the doorstep of thousands of people countrywide to handing out cooked food to marginalised poor and homeless people were also confirmed."
"SAF has also provided support with financial assistance to the jobless needy people through mobile banking during the lockdown period.
Besides, the consignment of lifesaving protective gears like personal safety equipment (PPE) were provided to healthcare givers- doctors and nurses, law enforcers, and journalists including other professionals working on the front lines to combat the pandemic," says the press release.
Appreciating the initiative of SAF, Dr Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury, general secretary, Chattogram unit of BMA, said that doctors can easily give samples for testing here from morning to afternoon.
The inauguration program was graced by Professor Dr Mujibul Haque Khan, president of Chattogram BMA, and Professor Dr Shamim Hasan, principal of Chattogram Medical College, the press statement said.
The SAF has also made arrangements to collect take samples from people with Covid-19 symptoms in the capital city Dhaka as well for free of cost.
Moreover, a pool of dedicated volunteers from SAF took care of the burial of the Covid-19 patients and provided free tests to countless people with Covid-19 symptoms, reads the press release.
