Supershop Shwapno fined for defying govt restrictions in Ctg
Several shops and general people were also fined for staying at the shop and unnecessarily roaming ignoring the government's order
A mobile court has fined supershop Shwapno in Chattogram's Halishahar area for keeping the outlet open after 7pm violating the government order to prevent coronavirus spread.
A mobile court on Sunday, headed by Executive Magistrate Shirin Aktar, fined Tk2 lakh for keeping the outlet open at 9pm in Halishahar area.
"All kinds of shops except pharmacies in Chattogram city starting from 7pm in the evening to 6am next morning have been ordered to keep closed to prevent coronavirus spread," she said.
On the same day, another mobile court, headed by Executive Magistrate Touhidul Islam, fined a total of Tk1.14lakh to several shops for staying at the shop after 7pm. General people were also fined for unnecessary roaming around across the city ignoring the government's order.
"62 cases filed against several shops and people for violation of government directives," he said.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Elias Hossain said, "Preventing the spread of coronavirus, the government have already ordered to close all kind of shops from 7pm to 5pm except the drugstores."
"Moreover, mobile courts are being operated in two shifts daily to control the situation. The same directive has been given to other districts also. Strict action will be taken if authority finds anyone ignoring the law," he added.
