Elderly man killed after being hit by auto-rickshaw in Ramu
An elderly pedestrian was killed after being hit by a battery powered auto-rickshaw in Ramu, Cox's Bazar.
The accident occurred today (3 December) around 9:30am at the Temuhani area of the Ramu-Marichya inter-district road, confirmed Ramu police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imon Kanti Chowdhury.
The deceased, identified as Pranab Barua Poltu, 65, was a resident of Hazarikul in Fotekharkul Union, Ramu.
Citing family members and locals the OC said, Pranab Barua was returning home after having breakfast at a tea stall in Ramu's Temuhani area. A battery powered auto-rickshaw, coming from the Chowmuhani side, struck him, leaving him critically injured.
Locals immediately rushed him to Ramu Upazila Health Complex. Due to his critical condition, the attending doctor referred him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
However, Pranab Barua passed away from his injuries on the way to CMCH near Chunati village in Lohagara Upazila around 12pm.
The OC added that the body is being brought back to Ramu, and legal action will be taken if the family files a case.
