Fictitious BBC article links black fungus cases to cow urine
Both the media outlet and author Soutik Biswas called it a piece of misinformation
A screenshot of a fabricated BBC article recently made rounds on social media claiming that an Indian scientist has found a link between mucormycosis or the black fungus infection and cow urine.
However, both the media outlet and author Soutik Biswas called it a piece of misinformation, The Quint reports.
The headline of the article seen in the viral screenshot reads: 'Black fungus: Indian scientist find link with cow urine 9,000 cases of rare infection'.
The BBC Press Office issued a statement saying, "This is a fake post. We would urge audiences to check our website bbc.com/news."
It further shows that it was allegedly written by Soutik Biswas, BBC's India correspondent.
