Indian president, PM, MPs' to take 30% salary cut in Covid-19 fight
All members of parliament will also take a similar cut and the money will go to the country's consolidated fund, the government said after a cabinet meeting today
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and all state governors have voluntarily decided to take a 30 percent salary cut for a year in view of the coronavirus outbreak and the expected downturn in economy.
All members of parliament will also take a similar cut and the money will go to the country's consolidated fund, the government said after a cabinet meeting today, reported NDTV.
The Cabinet also approved the move to suspend the MPLADS Scheme for two years. Rs7,900crore from the MPLADS scheme will go to Consolidated Fund of India, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
