Aviation sector to grow threefold in 15 years: State minister
US-Bangla Airlines is set to send 11 more cadet pilots to the USA for training on 30 May
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali on Sunday said the aviation sector in Bangladesh will experience a remarkable threefold growth over the next 15 years.
"The country's aviation industry is growing rapidly driven by timely infrastructural development, comprehensive technical and human skill enhancement, and effective law and policy formulation," Mahbub was addressing a function, ahead of sending the second batch of cadet pilots of US Bangla Airlines to the United States for training.
Noting that Bangladesh's aviation market has almost doubled in the last 10 years, the state minister stressed the need for more trained and skilled manpower at every stage of the aviation sector to continue this growth trend.
"In addition to the government's various initiatives, it is crucial for the private sector to actively participate and contribute to the advancement of the country's aviation industry," he said.
To overcome the pilot shortages against the increasing demand in the aviation sector globally, US-Bangla Airlines, one of the leading airlines in Bangladesh, took the initiative to send some cadet pilots for training abroad.
The state minister remarked that the US Bangla Airlines' initiative to send trainee pilots to the United States for higher education will play a pivotal role in the growth of Bangladesh's aviation sector.
The second batch of 11 cadet pilots of US Bangla Airlines will fly to Florida in the United States on 30 May for training, read a press release of the airline.
The first batch of 10 cadet pilots has already joined training at Epic Flight Academy in Florida.
After successful completion of the flight training course, the trainees will attain Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Pilot Licence (FAACPL). Then, the pilots will be appointed as the trainee first officers at the US Bangla Airlines.
Us-Bangla with the help from Bangladesh Air Force, selected the 21 trainees from about 6,500 contestants between May to July 2022 for pilot training, the press release added.
