Bank accounts of NRBC Bank chairman Parvez, two officials frozen
The BFIU instructed all scheduled banks to freeze any accounts held in the names of these individuals for the next 30 days
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered freezing bank accounts belonging to NRBC Bank Chairman Parvez Tamal and two bank officials.
The officials are Mohammed Adnan Imam, former chairman of the bank's executive committee, and Md Jafar Iqbal Howlader, FCA, vice president of the Financial Administration Division.
On Thursday, the BFIU sent a directive to the managing directors of all scheduled banks instructing them to suspend any accounts held by the mentioned individuals for the next 30 days.
The letter also instructs the banks to provide a detailed transaction history for these accounts, covering the period from their opening to the present, within the next five days.
Parvez Tamal is a sponsor-director of NRBC Bank. He was elected chairman of the board in December 2017 and re-elected in June 2023 during the bank's 167th board meeting.
Mohammed Adnan Imam holds dual citizenship in Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
