BB seeks home ministry's help in ensuring uninterrupted transport for bank employees
The request has been made against the backdrop that some bankers while going to their office on Thursday were obstructed by law enforcement personnel
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir has sought help from the Ministry of Home Affairs in ensuring uninterrupted transports for bank employees during the nationwide shutdown and general holidays.
The governor has made the request in a letter he sent to Mostafa Kamal Uddin, senior secretary of the Public Security Division under the home ministry, on Saturday.
The request has been made against the backdrop that some bankers while going to their office on Thursday were obstructed by law enforcement personnel.

The government had put in force a 10-day general holiday from March 26 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. The general holiday was scheduled to come to an end yesterday, but in view of the current situation the government has extended the holidays to April 9.
Like in the earlier period, banks will remain open for a shortened shift during the general holidays from April 5 to April 9. However, the central bank on Thursday issued a circular extending the bank service hour. Till the last week during the general holidays bank transactions were made from 10am to 12pm but this week transactions will be made from 10am to 1pm. However, bankers will have to stay at their office till 3pm.
