bKash allows wallet recharge through Visa cards
The Eastern Bank Ltd will provide technical support for this newly introduced service
The bKash customers can now transfer money to their accounts using any Visa debit and credit card through the mobile service's dedicated smartphone application.
Mobile financial service provider bKash and global leader in payments technology Visa signed an agreement in this regard on Sunday.
To use this service, bKash customers will have to log into their bKash application and provide their Visa card credentials under the "add money" option.
The Eastern Bank Ltd will provide technical support for this service and ensure interconnectivity between Visa and bKash for other services as well.
TR Ramachandran, group country manager at India and South Asia of Visa, Ali Reza Iftekhar, managing director and chief executive officer of the Eastern Bank Ltd and Kamal Quadir, chief executive officer of bKash were present at the agreement ceremony held in bKash head office.
"Visa is committed to deepening its partnership in Bangladesh. We are proud to partner with bKash and provide a seamless experience to millions of Visa customers funding their wallets using Visa cards," said TR Ramachandran of Visa.
Meanwhile, bKash CEO Kamal Quadir said: "The time consuming process of standing in queues for credit card bill payment will no longer be required. It also opens opportunities for VISA and banks to design products and services for common people which now can be channelled through bKash."
Over the coming months, Visa plans to enable bKash customers to pay their Visa credit card bills through the bKash smartphone application, mentioned a press release.
