Bangladesh Coast Guard opens seven ships to public on Victory Day
Today is December 16, the great Victory Day. Every year, this day is celebrated, especially by the Bengali nation. After a long nine-month bloody war, on December 16, 1971, the Pakistani occupying forces formally surrendered to the Bengali nation, resulting in the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign state.
On this occasion, the day is celebrated yearly with due dignity, solemnity and great enthusiasm. Given this, on the occasion of the great Victory Day, Bangladesh Coast Guard Dhaka Zone ships 'BCGS Portegrande' (Chandpur Launch Ghat), 'BCGS Shetgang' (Munshiganj Launch Ghat) and East Zone 'BCGS Syed Nazrul' (Patenga, Chittagong), 'BCGS Ruposhi Bangla' (BCG Base Chittagong), 'BCGS Kamruzzaman (Mongla)' of the West Zone, 'BCGS Aparajeyo Bangla' (Khulna) and 'BCGS Sonar Bangla' (Elisha Ghat, Bhola) of the South Zone were kept open for the general public from 1400 hrs to 1630 hrs on December 16.
In continuation, many men and women from the area and the surrounding areas came to inspect the ships from 1400 hrs today. This allowed the general public to tour the Coast Guard ships and learn about various aspects of the vessel. In addition, the responsible officials answered people's curiosity and multiple questions about the vessel. Everyone returned home happy after learning about the ship's deep-sea navigation and coastal patrols, rescue and search activities, prevention of illegal intrusion and smuggling, suppression of piracy, protection of fisheries and natural resources, and warfare tactics, and the positive aspects of the Bangladesh Coast Guard were revealed among the public.
